By adjusting extrusion parameters — temperature, moisture and die — the same extruder produces both floating and sinking pellets.
High expansion in the extruder creates air pockets inside the pellet — density < 1 g/cm³ keeps the pellet on the water surface.
Low expansion and higher moisture give a denser pellet that sinks. Suitable for fish that feed at the bottom or in the water column.
